Well, I’ve been writing this blog for a whole six months now. It’s time for a change. To something way more interesting and uplifting.
It’s time for…
fun-raisin lolcats.
I think this is going to be much more helpful and uplifting for the fundraising community.
Here’s the first post of the new era. Enjoy!
Congratulations on this bold new change! Did you use a focus group?

Awesome! I love it!

Well played sir, well played. (Although I do think you may be undervaluing the power of a lolcat image to illustrate a point–especially when a creative commons flicker search just isn’t getting the job done.)

Focus groups + lots of beer.

Dear Jeff,
If you’re going in a visual direction with this blog, I would rather read a witty cartoon than yet another lolcat.
Or, how about most artistic fundraising mailings, or uses of art in fundraising?
Or, how fundraising has become imbedded in popular culture and ways people look at or overlook it?

Thank you! It’s about time we fundraisers stop being so serious all of the time.

The future of fundraising is not about social media, online video, or SEM. It’s not about any technology, medium, or technique. It’s about donors. If you need to raise funds from donors, you need to study them, respect them, and build everything you do around them. And the future? It’s already here. More.
Jeff Brooks has been serving the nonprofit community for more than 35 years and blogging about it since 2005. He considers fundraising the most noble of pursuits and hopes you’ll join him in that opinion. You can reach him at jeff [at] jeff-brooks [dot] com. More.
