Young donors and other mythical creatures

Frs

Here’s my column in this month’s FundRaising Success magazine, Young Donors and Other Mythical Creatures.

Teaser: Let’s face it: It takes a real act of the imagination to get into the head of someone older than you. It’s even harder when you’re impressed with your own hipness and think the oldsters just don’t get it.

  1. Working in Christian radio, our average donor is 45, much younger than donors to most organizations. It’s interesting to read this article and to think about how much of what I read in the industry of fundraising is actually written with a class of donors quite a bit older than my donors. Is there any research on younger donors who give to media based organizations? I would think that we’re not alone.

What this blog is about

The future of fundraising is not about social media, online video, or SEM. It’s not about any technology, medium, or technique. It’s about donors. If you need to raise funds from donors, you need to study them, respect them, and build everything you do around them. And the future? It’s already here. More.
