How some fundraisers keep getting it right

Are you jealous of some other fundraiser who always seems to get it right? The Fundraising Authority has some ideas what they’re doing, at Why Some Non-Profits Always Hit Their Fundraising Goals:

  1. They Set Deadlines and Responsibilities
  2. They Focus on Individual Donors
  3. They Track Donors through the Fundraising Funnel
  4. They Build Fundraising Networks, Starting with Their Boards
  5. They Tell a Great Story

Great list. Let me enlarge on #5 — what a great story is. It’s the story of how the donor changes the world. Not the story of how awesome the nonprofit is.

What this blog is about

The future of fundraising is not about social media, online video, or SEM. It’s not about any technology, medium, or technique. It’s about donors. If you need to raise funds from donors, you need to study them, respect them, and build everything you do around them. And the future? It’s already here. More.
