Make your website work

From npENGAGE, a quick check-up for a solid, functioning website: 10 Must-Have Elements for Nonprofit Websites. Make sure you have these things:

  1. Contact page
  2. “About us” section
  3. Information for donors
  4. Online donations system
  5. Blog
  6. Photos and portfolio
  7. Social media widget
  8. Testimonials
  9. Volunteer or career opportunities
  10. Newsletter signup

(I’m not sold on the need for a blog. That may not be worth the trouble for everyone.)

  1. Let me sell you on the need for a blog, Jeff. Check out my post today on why blogs may trump websites for nonprofits. Especially when it comes to moving folks along the continuum from awareness… to interest… to engagement… to, ultimately, investment!
I’m feeling pretty passionate about this. I think it will simplify nonprofit content strategy.

What this blog is about

The future of fundraising is not about social media, online video, or SEM. It’s not about any technology, medium, or technique. It’s about donors. If you need to raise funds from donors, you need to study them, respect them, and build everything you do around them. And the future? It’s already here. More.
