4 ways to get ready for the busy times ahead

This time of year is relative down-time for a lot of fundraisers. But up-time is bearing down on us already. Here are some things to do right now, from the Turn Two Blog, at You’ll Be Thanking Yourself This Fall If You Do These 4 Things Now:

  1. Review Your Crisis Communications Plan. Are we still in a crisis? About to enter a new crisis? Approaching a whole new one? Whatever might happen, crises happen. Plan for the next one now.
  2. Build Out Your Year-End Strategy. The critical calendar year-end giving season is closer than you think. Put your plan in writing now, and start work. It’s only going to be more difficult if you wait.
  3. Interview and Hire Consultants. If getting outside help is something you want to do, do it now. Consultants and others will be up to their necks in work in just a few weeks. Now is the time to talk to them.
  4. Take Some Time to Recharge. Yes, that’s a bit in opposition to the three things above, but do take care of yourself. No matter how busy you are now, you’ll be busier soon.

What this blog is about

The future of fundraising is not about social media, online video, or SEM. It’s not about any technology, medium, or technique. It’s about donors. If you need to raise funds from donors, you need to study them, respect them, and build everything you do around them. And the future? It’s already here. More.
