How to make giving unforgettable for your donors

It’s unfortunate, but being a donor can be a lonely experience. You put yourself (your money) out there, hoping to make the world a better place.

Then, crickets.

You get nothing back.

Those fundraisers that break that common pattern quickly move up the list of favorites for donors. Here, from the Bloomerang Blog, are 3 Tips to Create Unforgettable Moments for Donors, because when you give your donors a memorable moment, you’re telling them they’ll enjoy doing it again:

  1. Send them a heartfelt thanks that they aren’t expecting. A phone call. A thank-you video. Even a small gift. These things can be such a pleasant surprise.
  2. Give them the gift of being known by you. Use their name and other information you have about them. Talk to them about the things they care about/ Be as aware as possible of their lives.
  3. Remind them of their loyalty by celebrating their donorversary. Send a card that says, “Today, exactly one (or two, five, ten, etc.) you did something very important…”
