The most needless, pointless, counterproductive thing that fundraisers stress about: We’re talking to our donors too much!
You almost certainly are not.
It’s far more likely you aren’t talking to them enough to stay on their radar and build a relationship with them. If you must stress about things, put this near the top of your list.
Frequent contact doesn’t “burn out” donors. It gives them more chances to do something that want to do.
And asking gives donors a gift — yes, a gift, according to Sarah Masterson’s Blog, at Donating is a gift to the giver.
Here are some of the things giving gives to givers:
- Higher reported life satisfaction and happiness.
- Lower mortality rates, improved physical health.
- Increased positive emotion.
- Higher self-worth.
- Better social connection, sense of belonging.
- Reduced stress.
- Sense of meaning and purpose.
