Keep your donors!
It’s the top job in fundraising. The longer they stay with you, the more valuable to are.
And the best way to keep your donors is to give them a good experience.
Here, from the Boomerang Blog, are some of the things you can do that will measurably improve donor retention, at Stewardship Tactics That Are Sure To Keep Donors Tied To Your Cause:
- Say thank you immediately. This is so important! Put a paper thank-you/acknowledgement in the mail within 48 hours of receiving the donation. Better yet, within 24 hours. You want the donor to get this while they still remember making the gift — which is not a long time. This is a proven way to encourage donors to keep on giving.
- Send video updates. A short (like two minutes, tops), story-based human look at the impact donors have is a powerful way to make donor believe giving to your organization is worth doing.
- Offer exclusive tours and access. Show them what they make possible from behind the scenes. They’ll remember more and understand better.
- Pick up the phone. Thank-you calls boost donor retention by humanizing your organization and their connection to you. Consider making calls for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and donation anniversaries.
- Host salon events. Gather donors in fun, intimate groups with a simple program and a lot of caring people who share values.
