Stories that matter are the stories that do the job

Do your fundraising stories matter?

I’m not kidding around. So many stories are just a recounting of something that happened. Maybe well-written. Possibly interesting.

But nothing big is at stake.

Nothing that requires the donor to take action and make some kind of change possible.

If nothing bad will happen without the donor, there’s little reason to give.

Show your donors what’s on the line — what’s about to be lost, who’s in danger, what needs saving now.

Your donors, like everyone, encounter dozens or even hundreds of stories every day. Most of the stories don’t call for action. In fact, most of the stories leave people feeling powerless. Because they are about big problems like injustice, poverty, diseases, threats to life. Those stories get their attention, but leave them out in the cold.

Your fundraising stories should be different. They should be stories that the donor can become part of by donating. And thereby change the world!

That’s the power of fundraising stories.
