How to make your thank you letters extra special

Here’s just the sign-off from a thank-you letter from an organization I donate to. I wanted to show you a small extra step the ED took to make it just a little more than a typical thank you.

It’s signed by hand. Yay!

But the real magic is the note — just two words — handwritten next to it.

It says “Merry Christmas” in Greek. (This ED has reason to believe I’m able to read that.)

It probably took less than a minute to add that to the thank-you letter. For all I know, he did that on all the letters he signed.

But it sure feels special. I feel seen. Acknowledged. Included.

What’s the dollar value of doing that? I don’t know, but I’m willing to bet it’s not small.

Look for ways to connect with your donors, especially when you’re thanking them.
