Pretty much the entire universe is conspiring to distract you from writing quality fundraising. Here are some ways to fight back, from the Publication Coach blog, at Do writers get shiny object syndrome?
- Make sure you spend enough time thinking and researching before you do any writing. For fundraising, that means write out (and get all stakeholders agree to) the offer. Know the specs, have your story, facts, and important message points already to go.
- Don’t allow yourself to multitask. We have “productivity” tools that make multitasking easy. But that’s the quick path to low productivity! Don’t do it! Do one thing at a time.
- Limit the number of projects you allow yourself to run at any given time. You may not have a lot of control over this, but do you best to keep this aspect of your work from getting out of hand.
