6 ways to keep your monthly donors on board

Do your monthly donors know they’re important? Or are you making them just tick along like malfunctioning cash machines?

Don’t ignore them! Check out this Bloomerang Blog post for ways to keep those monthly donors connected: 6 keys to effectively thank monthly donors:

  1. Flatter your donor. Monthly donors are an elite among donors. Tell them that! People respond to flattery. Give them all the credit you can muster when you thank them.
  2. Lean on impactful visuals. Rewarding images that show the difference they’re making are powerful. This is when you show the images you really want to show.
  3. Focus on the outcome. You might be tempted to send a tutorial of what and how their gift went to work. That’s not why they gave. They gave to make something good happen. Talk about that.
  4. Stand out. Put a lot of thought into your thanking. Make sure it’s not lost in a wall of brand-compliant sameness. Make it amazing.
  5. Close warmly. There’s nothing wrong with ending your letter with “Sincerely,” but I bet you can be warmer, more personal, and more heartfelt than that.
  6. Add a targeted, personal touch. Call them. Thank-you phone calls are strongly connected to better donor retention, upgrading, and all this things you hope they’ll do. It’s well worth doing!

You know, looking at this list of ways to thank monthly donors, it’s a great list for thanking any donors.
